GOOD GEAR RATING — 9.5/10 STARS

Summary: I tried the ENIGMA™ Double Sonic toy from LELO to see if the innovative sonic waves and ergonomic design were truly going to stimulate three (three!!) erogenous zones at once and, well. Let’s just say I am now very close with my A-spot! The luxury toy is unlike anything I’ve ever tried before, delivering a truly mindblowing orgasm from the gentle yet powerful SENSONIC™ and DeepSonic™ technology to my clit and A-spot, while massaging my G-spot with perfect vibes.

What I love:

  • Where do I even begin… the design, the look, the feel, the battery life, the orgasm it delivers in record time — every time? I love everything about the ENIGMA™ Double Sonic!
  • This is a toy that is doing all the work for you, not the other way around. It takes a little maneuvering to find the right spots, but all you really have to do is lie back in a comfortable position and relax, and the ENIGMA™ Double Sonic does absolutely everything else.
  • I was new to the sonic wave technology before the SONA 3, and I have to say — my clit and I are very big fans. Experimenting with hovering just over the hood of the clit and not actually touching it has created sensations that truly feel like magic.

Things to keep in mind:

  • Luxury means exactly what you think it does: indulgent, decadent, and…not cheap. The ENIGMA™ Double Sonic is $349 (before you use our code TRADE20 for 20% off), but imho it’s worth every penny.
  • The ENIGMA™ Double Sonic is not quiet. But it is also delivering three different kinds of stimulation tech at once, and if silence is the cost I’ve gotta pay for it then consider it a sealed deal.
  • Lube it up, really well, and insert before turning it on. It might feel a little clinical at first, but you’ll forget all about that in about two seconds.

Before experiencing it myself, I was certain that I knew what sex would feel like. Especially after I got my first boyfriend and I’d felt the mind-altering pleasure of hours-long makeout sessions and frenzied dry humping. If my body could feel so electrically good just from rubbing groins through our jeans, then imagine what would happen when we were naked. I’d watched enough teen dramas to know that after a little kissing, followed by immediate penetration, we’d be just a few sensuous thrusts away from reaching all-out ecstasy.

And then, on Thanksgiving day when I was eighteen years old, I watched my boyfriend put on a condom before climbing on top of me, fumbling around a bit at my vaginal entrance, and thrusting decisively inside. It only took a few laborious pumps before I realized that we had all been lied to.

I didn’t understand. How could all that kissing make me feel so deliciously aroused and then the actual act of intercourse feel so perfunctory? Was it the smell of latex? Was his thrusting not sensuous enough? Our public consciousness of the clitoris was still years away, so looking back, I can see now how my first time was always going to end this way: in a proverbial whimper, not the much-desired bang.

“Learning how to experience pleasure (let alone achieve orgasm) during heteronormative sex has been a lifelong journey.”

Like for many women, learning how to experience pleasure (let alone achieve orgasm) during heteronormative sex has been a lifelong journey, one that’s required curiosity, time, a vested interest from both myself and my partner, and, most recently, toys.

I have been thrilled to explore a few different products from LELO, a Swedish luxury pleasure brand that centers sexual wellness tech and massage products on the ethos that all bodies deserve a satisfied and fulfilled intimate life — without shame. (Can I get a HELL YEAH?!) So while I’ve enjoyed testing the toys and products they’ve sent my way, what I’ve really appreciated is the thorough, holistic education each experience has offered. LELO says they believe there is pleasure in discovering all the wonders of one’s body, and let’s just say that the ENIGMA™ Double Sonic triple stimulation (that’s right: t-r-i-p-l-e) massager is the ambassador putting this belief into action.

The ENIGMA™ Double Sonic is sort of like the one-man-band of sex toys, because she’s not here to stimulate just one erogenous zone. She’s not even satisfied pulling double duty like the high-achieving rabbit-style vibrator we all know and love. She’s going for a simultaneous three-point seduction, covering the clitoris, the G-spot, and the mysterious yet intriguing A-spot — no engineering degree or the flexibility of a Cirque du Soleil contortionist required.

A grey silicone sex toy, a pink ring, a lit black candle, and a small mirror on mauve-colored fabric.
LELO has done it again — the ENIGMA™ Double Sonic is designed to stimulate three erogenous zones at once… and she delivers!

You don’t even need to really know what or where the alphabet spots are in your body, or even believe they exist, to enjoy using the ENIGMA™ Double Sonic. What you do need? Lube, a little time, and some curiosity. I also personally recommend a vested interest in having fun and feeling good — our attitudes and mindsets can’t be underestimated in the bedroom!

How it works

The ENIGMA™ Double Sonic is an internal and external stimulation toy, with an ergonomic design and velvety soft medical-grade silicone that makes it extremely comfortable to use. The battery stays charged for up to two hours, so this is definitely a toy that’s inviting you to kick off your shoes, pour yourself a drink, and stay awhile.

“The ENIGMA™ Double Sonic is an internal and external stimulation toy, with an ergonomic design and velvety soft medical grade silicone.”

The base is essentially the same design as the SONA line, with a soft nozzle that delivers sonic waves with SENSONIC™ technology to the clitoris. A curved, flexible wand creates vibrating sensations to stimulate the G-spot, while at the tail end, a unique sonic tip uses DeepSonic™ technology to reach the A-spot further into the vaginal canal.

There are eight modes to play with using the manual buttons, plus the option to connect to the app and access “FINISH ME OFF” and “OUT OF CONTROL” modes for anyone interested in experimenting with independent motor control. All modes can be made more or less intense, a feature I adore about the LELO products across the board. Whether you enjoy a pulsing sensation, or the rhythm of a wave, or a more straightforward all-hands-on-deck vibration to take you home, the ENIGMA™ Double Sonic does it all. The app also offers a feature designed for couples called “Love Bridge,”which allows for partner control. Couples are able to connect privately and control compatible LELO devices in real time — no matter the distance. (If that sounds intriguing, check out the LELO product line and use our code TRADE20 for 20% off — stackable with other discounts!)

Other notable features? Like the other products I’ve tried from the brand, the ENIGMA™ Double Sonic is 100% waterproof, so she can go with you to the shower or even be fully submerged in the bath. She’s also compliant with the ISO 3533 international standard, which ensures safety requirements for sex toys. This means that all LELO devices have been cleared for any reasonable and foreseeable use, and that all materials are safe for contact with genitalia and the anus.

So, let’s get into it. Do I have an A-spot? Does the ENIGMA™ Double Sonic reach it? What is it like??

Right this way, for the sort of details I’ll happily share in honor of my teenage self and everything I wish she’d known.

My experience with the ENIGMA™ Double Sonic from LELO

All of LELO’s products arrive in discreet, unmarked packaging, and the ENIGMA™ Double Sonic was no exception. Inside, the toy is tucked into a sleek black box and has a user manual, info for connecting to the app, a sample of personal lube, a charging cord, and a silky storage bag.

The first thing I do with any new toy is plug it in. The LELO products all light up around the three buttons on the toy, pulsing while charging and then holding when ready. It takes about two hours to get a full charge the first time.

Handling the ENIGMA™ Double Sonic, I was surprised by how flexible and almost bendy the insertable wand is. Unlike some internal vibrators, which are meant to function more like a dildo, this one is not simulating a penis. Instead, it has a vibrating motor inside and then a sort of soft button-like section on the tip. I played around with it a bit just to get a feel for it and to try to understand how to fit it to my body — right away, I could tell it was going to be unlike any other toy I’ve tried before.

“Right away, I could tell it was going to be unlike any other toy I’ve tried before.”

Getting set up for use is a bit more of a to-do than some of the simpler vibes I’ve got in my arsenal. First, you must lube her up — and don’t be shy about it. You need to insert the wand and get everything in place before turning it on, and unless you want to burn your clit off, fill the nozzle with lube as well. Once everything is slippery and ready to go, insert the wand a few inches into your vagina — not super far at first, just enough so that you are able to also hover the clitoral stimulator where you want it. Then, click the on or the + button and relax.

The very first thing I noticed was that the ENIGMA™ Double Sonic is … not quiet. It’s working three separate stimulation tech zones, after all! So if you need to use it discreetly, I recommend taking it to the shower or bath.

“The very first thing I noticed was that the ENIGMA™ Double Sonic is … not quiet. It’s working three separate stimulation tech zones, after all!”

The first mode is the standard all-vibes all-around setting, and I’ll admit I’m generally happy with this one. However, because the clit sucker can be very intense, I clicked through the modes until I found one that gave some gentle pulses to get me accustomed to the sensation.

Internally, I could tell there was something going on, but it didn’t really send me to the moon until I readjusted my position from fully prone to sort of propped up on pillows. In this position, reclining at an angle so my pelvis could sort of bear down on the toy, I was able to find, greet, and then get very well acquainted with my A-spot.

In less than twenty minutes, we were hugging and sobbing happily into each other’s arms.

For someone on an SSRI who experiences delayed orgasms, this is notable. I knew, right away, that what I was feeling for the ENIGMA™ Double Sonic was true love.

Regarding the A-spot

Look, I can’t call all the various rooms and walls and hotspots in my vagina by name, but I can tell you that there are mysterious locations that, when touched the right way, make me forget even my own name. And once I experienced it with the ENIGMA™ Double Sonic, I realized I had actually met my A-spot before! I just didn’t know what it was called or how to find it on my own.

Here’s a loose and unintellectual breakdown of what you generally need to know about female erogenous zones:

“There are estimated to be five deep vaginal erogenous zones (DVZs) that research associates with the female orgasm. “

There are estimated to be five deep vaginal erogenous zones (DVZs) that research associates with the female orgasm — though some of these zones are controversial in medical literature. The G-spot and the A-spot are both thought to be on the front wall of the vagina, though the A-spot is deeper, located between the cervix and the bladder. Both zones are associated with possibly leading to female ejaculation, or squirting. Both zones can also make women feel like they need to pee when stimulated.

The A-spot was discovered in a 1997 study for women who were having pain during sex due to dryness and difficulty reaching orgasm. The study found that stimulating the A-spot quickly increased both arousal and lubrication. But it also suggested that unlike other erogenous zones, the A-spot stimulations didn’t seem to cause an orgasm directly, but instead helped produce the sensations that created ideal conditions for an orgasm to occur.

Here’s my honest take on all this: Who cares? You can call it the A-spot, the Z-spot, or Clementine; it’s all the same to me. But none of our bodies are the same, and there really isn’t a single one-size-fits-all sex technique I could confidently endorse for everyone with a vagina. However, I will stand by this: The entire package down there, from genitals to anus, is packed with nerves that will react to various kinds of touch. I guarantee that a curious, loving exploration will lead to pleasurable discoveries that will be unique to you and your body. And then you can name them whatever you want!

“I guarantee that a curious, loving exploration will lead to pleasurable discoveries that will be unique to you and your body. “

For me, I definitely feel pleasurable sensations on the walls of my vagina. The entire clitoral network is behind the visible bulb and hood, so I know much of the pleasure is coming from there. But you know how the recommendation for fingering someone is to make a “come here” motion with a finger inserted into the vagina? That touch is meant to stimulate the G-spot.

Deeper in (a relative term, when we’re talking a vaginal canal of a maximum of 7 inches long), is the A-spot. From its location right next to the bladder, I can tell I’ve reached it when I have a non-urgent feeling like I need to pee. It does not produce a building pleasure or intensity by itself, but it feels … cozy and lovely and nice. Like a hot bath, or a foot massage. A deep pleasure, but the kind that is more like a beautiful setting rather than the star of the show.

When I am using the ENIGMA™ Double Sonic, I’ve noticed that once I’ve gotten that sort of cozy, warm, let’s-all-settle-in-now feeling it’s usually only a few minutes before I am quite suddenly ready to come. If I bear down on the toy a bit and push the wand into my vaginal wall, I can feel its tip where the DeepSonic™ waves are pulsing. And it is amazing.

Final thoughts: Is the ENIGMA™ Double Sonic worth it?

I love this toy! The DeepSonic™ and SENSONIC™ sonic wave technology is unique, subtle, but potent. The deep layer of vibrations along my vaginal wall create an orgasm that isn’t centralized on a single, sensitive point, instead seeming to originate from my entire pelvic floor. I always feel relaxed and also like my bones are made of jelly after.

No, the ENIGMA™ Double Sonic is not cheap — but worth every penny? Absolutely! And with our code TRADE20, you can enjoy this multitasking luxury toy for 20% off.

As far as the A-spot and G-spot stimulation goes, I want to be clear that the ENIGMA™ Double Sonic is certainly stimulating something in multiple areas at once, but I wouldn’t spend too much time fixating on it.

The worst way to use this toy would be as some sort of tool to pinpoint a precise location — it works much better when you are relaxed and comfortable, and you can let it send out its magic waves and make your whole body feel good.

The takeaway? More important than finding some specific square inch of tissue inside of a vagina is that there are many different parts of our bodies that contribute to arousal and orgasm. It is infinitely more important to experiment with discovering them and trying various types of touch than it is to make a perfect map with exact coordinates.

Think of it as more of a wander than an expedition — you are more likely to be open to whatever wonders you might find if you aren’t too fixated on getting to a single destination.
