GOOD GEAR RATING โ 8/10 STARS
Summary: After swapping my sustainable yet ineffective bamboo toothbrush for SURI for two weeks of testing, I wholeheartedly recommend it as the holy grail of oral care. Itโs a toothbrush that delivers professional-grade cleaning power while being genuinely sustainable, solving the impossible choice between dental health and environmental responsibility. The combination of their 40-day battery life, whisper-quiet operation, and innovative plant-based materials makes this a transformative upgrade for anyone serious about both their oral health and reducing plastic waste.
What I Love:
- The SURI is a plastic-free toothbrush made with a plant-based head and bristles.
- The Mirror Mount makes it easy to store the toothbrush on any mirror โ and itโs easy to remove and re-adhere, too.
- The UV-C LED Light Cleaning Case not only kills 99% of bacteria but also charges the brush while inside.
- Long-lasting 40-day battery charge (based on use 2x a day).
- The sleek and slim design feels nice in the hands while not being too clunky, and the powerful yet quiet vibrations that feel modern and effective.
Things Iโd Consider:
- The $105 price point means that this is going to be more than your average plastic toothbrush, but is comparable (or even cheaper!) than other leading electric brushes on the market. (Bundles and subscriptions offer deals!)
- Their standard medium-firm bristle heads might not be ideal if you need a soft-bristle toothbrush. SURI does not offer more than one type of bristle head.
Iโve always been terrified of the dentist since I was little. After some traumatizing cavity fillings at a young age, I became determined to have more positive visits to the dentist as an adult. The sound of a drill still sends shivers down my spine, so Iโve taken dental hygiene and attempts at โquieterโ dental visits very seriously.
Along that path to better dental hygiene and trying to find the best toothbrush for the job, my research came with the sad revelation that over a billion plastic toothbrushes are discarded annually just in the US, and over 23 billion globally. And on top of that, those toothbrushes can take hundreds of years to decompose in whatever ocean or landfill theyโve ended up in. Meaning every toothbrush you and I have ever owned still exists somewhere out there. ๐
“Every toothbrush you and I have ever owned still exists somewhere out there. ๐”
Thatโs a heart-sinking realization as someone whoโs concerned about the many footprints we have on our planet. So I ditched the electric toothbrushes and went for bamboo toothbrushes.
Problem solved! Or so I thought. The bamboo toothbrushes simply didn’t get the job done. My teeth never felt fully cleaned, the bristles never felt strong enough, and I always felt they needed to be replaced in a month instead of the recommended three.
“I felt caught between having healthy teeth and being a responsible consumer for the planet.”
To further validate this, on my next post-bamboo-toothbrush-lifestyle dental visit, I had a dentist insist I buy a top-brand electric toothbrush. I felt caught between having healthy teeth and being a responsible consumer for the planet. I didnโt want to pick one over the other.
When I recently learned about SURI, it seemed to solve this exact issue. I was eager to see if this was the solution to keeping both my conscience for the planet and the health of my teeth.
About SURI
Based out of London, UK, SURI (short for Sustainable Rituals) is on a mission to create durable, eco-friendly alternatives to wasteful, non-recyclable toothbrushes in an effort to solve the problem of billions of plastic toothbrushes getting disposed of every year.
Their toothbrush is made with an aluminum body, making it long-lasting and easily recycled, with brush heads that are made from plant-based corn starch and bristles made from castor oil. Taking the recycling responsibility one step further, SURI offers to recycle the heads for free in the UK and US. SURI has partnered with ClimatePartner to calculate emissions and fund initiatives that offset the environmental impact of shipping their toothbrushes and accessories. They are a B Corp-certified company and transparently offer their sustainability reports from 2022 to 2025, all easily accessible on their website.

While sustainability is a core component of the company, creating an exceptionally effective toothbrush that won Dental Brand of the Year (2025) at the Dental Industry Awards, has been equally considered, as the toothbrush was designed, tested, and approved by dental professionals.
Their comprehensive recycling program, company transparency, award-winning sonic toothbrush, and materials used have made SURI rise quickly to a leading brand in the dental hygiene space.
My personal review of SURI
Upon unboxing, I noticed the compact nature of the sustainable packaging that SURI uses. The toothbrush and included accessories perfectly fit into a 100% recyclable box and sleeve that can also be used for returns and replacements. The paper pulp tray is also biodegradable.

If youโre like me, using a fun new gadget that just arrived in the mail immediately is tempting, but like all things that need a charge, SURI recommends you give a full charge to your toothbrush before its first use to ensure optimal battery performance. There are two charging options: Either placing the toothbrush in the charging stand or in the travel case, both needing to be connected to a 5V USB charger. A full charge typically takes 3-4 hours, with the indicator light turning from blinking blue to solid white. I chose to use the UV cleaning case and cord for my first charge, and while I waited, I decided to set up the Mirror Mount so my new routine would be ready to go. After patiently waiting a few hours, I was ready to see how this toothbrush compared to all the rest.
As I mentioned, Iโve dabbled in non-electric toothbrushes โ but I have also tried popular ones such as Philipโs Sonicare Toothbrush and, most recently, the Aquasonic Toothbrush. Philipโs got the job done, but it felt bulky and needed frequent charging. The Aquasonic had toothbrush heads with bristles that seemed to fray within about 2 weeks. Both were strikingly loud, too.
The first thing I noticed when picking up the SURI toothbrush was how it felt in my hands: sleek and futuristic, light in weight, but also substantial. The toothbrush has two modes for you to choose between: The white light represents โEveryday Clean:โ meant for those who have not used a sonic toothbrush before, or anyone who wants a gentler clean for more sensitive teeth and gums. The blue light represents โPolish Mode:โ meant for those who like a more powerful, high-intensity clean. I chose, and have maintained to use, โPolish Modeโ because โEveryday Cleanโ didn’t personally feel strong enough for me. The SURI toothbrush will remember the last mode that you used, one less thing to think about but you can easily cycle between them if you change your mind.

Since I was also testing out their Mixed Mint flavored Restore Toothpaste, I put a pea-sized amount as recommended onto the toothbrush head, placed it in my mouth, and then clicked the power button. Immediately, I noticed how gentle yet powerful the vibration was, and more impressively, how quiet it was in comparison to previous electric toothbrushes. We are all brushing our teeth in the early hours of the morning or the wind-down hours of the evening. So having a loud vibration in our heads really doesnโt complement anyone who values peace in their routines. This, to me, is something SURI has considered as a company putting value on wellness rituals and understanding the needs of anyone in that audience.
Like other electric toothbrushes, it has a 2-minute timer with 30-second intervals that remind you to switch to a new section of your teeth. When it gently shut off, I rinsed and noticed a truly polished clean feeling. Subtly different, but it was definitely a cleaner feeling than my Aquasonic.

I dried it off and placed it on the Mirror Mount, which I have to say, was satisfying just knowing it wouldn’t fall over on the counter or create a watery mess.
After two weeks of consistent twice-a-day use, the SURI toothbrush kept my teeth feeling the cleanest it has, and, because of its 40-day charge, I didn’t have to worry once if my toothbrush would stall out mid- evening brush. Once a day or every other day, I would place it in the sanitizing travel case, a nice feature knowing that my bristles aren’t storing any extra bacteria before my next clean.
A deep dive on the accessories
Letโs start with their Mirror Mount: If youโve used an electric toothbrush before, most likely youโve brushed your teeth and promptly placed it back on the bathroom counter, only to find a gunky collection of white, toothbrush base-shaped toothpaste rings on your once clean counter surface the next time you go to brush your teeth. Not a great look if you like a tidy bathroom. The number of times Iโve scrubbed this type of mess off in my bathroom is too much to count.
The Mirror Mount is a brilliant solution. You simply peel off the adhesive on the back, choose a spot on your mirror to place it, and stick it on. The aluminum body of your toothbrush will easily magnetize to it. This is a simple feature, but one I have appreciated every time I finish brushing my teeth, knowing I will have a mess-free bathroom sink counter. If youโre concerned about removal, SURI recommends taking a hairdryer with light heat and an old credit card or thin object to remove it, and using 3M tape to create a new adhesive if youโre moving it.
“My other favorite accessory in their oral care line is the UV Cleaning Case, which solves three common problems in one: cleaning, charging, and travel.”
My other favorite accessory in their oral care line is the UV Cleaning Case, which solves three common problems in one: cleaning, charging, and travel. It kills 99.9% of bacteria on the brush head in just 60 seconds for a thorough clean, has the ability to charge via the included USBC cable, and functions as a travel case for when youโre on the go. Along with the Mirror Mount, I find this to be a worthy and convenient investment.
And lastly, the Restore Toothpaste in Mixed Mint flavor. The SURI toothpaste has Nano-Hydroxyapatite and is free of artificial flavors, colors, and SLS. Itโs fluoride-free and overall is a nice toothpaste. I will say, I prefer a stronger mint flavor and while I feel and trust itโs doing just as good a job cleaning my teeth, I will stick to my Davidโs toothpaste simply because I feel I get a fresher mint feeling in the hour following brushing my teeth. But if a gentle taste is preferred, this one would be perfect for you.
Is the SURI Toothbrush worth the switch?
I truly canโt think of a reason anyone wouldnโt switch to this toothbrush. The SURI provides excellent oral care at no cost to the planet. It relieves me to know there is finally a responsible yet effective toothbrush for the health of my teeth and the planet, and I feel in general, a one-time investment will always outweigh cheaper products.

This toothbrush is perfect for anyone who wants a thorough clean for their teeth and one less toothbrush in the billions that fill landfills every year. I would say itโs not ideal for anyone who has sensitive teeth and gums, as sonic cleaning can be intense for some with more sensitivity, although I did find the โEveryday Cleanโ was quite gentle. It is also very clearly an adult toothbrush, so I would not recommend trying this with young children.
With all of that in mind, I personally feel I did find the last toothbrush Iโll ever use. And finally, one that won’t make me choose between the planet and the health of my teeth.
