GOOD GEAR RATING — 8/10 STARS

Summary: I’m in my 30s — not precisely the target demographic for the Joylux vFit — but I was curious about the device as a proactive way to support my pelvic floor strength and learn more about the new cutting-edge tool in women’s sexual health. After using it consistently for three weeks, I can fully recommend it for anyone tending to themselves for perimenopause or menopause. If you’re in any phase of life and looking to improve your pelvic floor strength, vaginal dryness, or laxity, the Joylux is a worthy investment. Oh, and did I mention you can use the device purely for pleasure?

What I love about the Joylux vFit:

  • It’s an OB-GYN-designed red light therapy device for your vagina.
  • It’s backed by science and proven to strengthen your pelvic floor, increase natural lubrication, sensation, and a feeling of tightness.
  • It has six unique vibration settings.
  • It’s made with high-quality materials (a smooth, matte silicone).
  • It pairs with a comprehensive app for tracking symptoms and results.
  • It comes with a 1-year warranty that’s automatically registered when you download and sign into the app.

Things to know:

  • The price is steep at $395.
  • The product manual says the device requires a charge after every use, but I didn’t find that to be the case. It consistently holds a charge for multiple sessions.
  • The device is large and wand-shaped, meaning it could be difficult to stash or pack on trips.
  • The device must be fully inserted into the vagina to receive the maximum benefits.
  • It requires at least three weeks of consistent use to see results (which the site says, and I can confirm).
  • The product manual says the device only has a 2-year life span.

You ever order a vibrator only to have it accidentally delivered to your neighbor’s front door? No, just me? Luckily, the packaging was discreet — and very high quality, which is to be expected, I suppose, from what I have dubbed “The Porsche of Vibrators.”

When I first stumbled across the Joylux vFit on Goop, I rolled my eyes. A $400 vibrator? In this economy!? I had to find out who was behind such a contraption. And after doing some digging (and actually trying the Joylux for myself), I have officially changed my tune, and I’d love to tell you why.

About Joylux

Joylux is a women’s health platform promoting education, science, and community around menopause, specifically through the lens of sex and personal intimacy. While their partner brand, Respin (founded by Halle Berry) is a 3-month protocol that targets the more well-known symptoms of menopause (mood swings, low libido, hot flashes, and brain fog), Joylux is all about the parts that tend to be left out of the conversation. The sex. The vaginas. The pelvic floors. Oh my!

“Joylux is a women’s health platform promoting education, science, and community around menopause, specifically through the lens of sex and personal intimacy. “

“We are committed to normalizing conversations on the once-taboo subject of intimate health with science-backed solutions that empower women to take control of their well-being,” the ‘About’ section on the Joylux site reads. As a woman in my 30s who knew next to nothing about menopause before trying this device, I was intrigued. It’s true – there is shockingly little education, cultural conversation, or proactive care around menopause. I like how Joylux is not just raising awareness around it — they’re offering science-backed tools and education. And they’re doing it with taste! I can see clear substance and strategy behind what they’re building.

But still. You might be wondering – do women in perimenopause or menopause really need their own special vibrator? There’s no way this is actually necessary.

If you look at the biology behind women’s health and aging (so often overlooked…), the creation of this device starts to make sense. As we age and estrogen levels drop, many women experience symptoms like vaginal dryness, decreased blood flow, thinning tissue, reduced sensation, and what’s often described as laxity or looseness. These are incredibly common experiences, yet they’re rarely discussed – even in conversations around aging and sex. There’s an unspoken rule that women should silently accept, hide, or quietly work around their menopause symptoms.

Now Joylux is saying — what if we didn’t? What if we approached menopause and the intimate changes that come with it not in shame or silence, but with curiosity, care, and tools? What if, instead of waiting until things got uncomfortable, we started caring for our vaginas the same way we care for our skin, our muscles, or our mental health?

“What if we approached menopause and the intimate changes that come with it not in shame or silence, but with curiosity, care, and tools?”

Though I’m not in perimenopause or menopause yet, I have proudly laughed so hard that I peed my pants. On multiple occasions! This is how I first became acquainted with the concept of “strengthening the pelvic floor.” At the time, I brushed it off as something to think about later. But Joylux has me thinking, why wait?

So much of wellness today is focused on prevention. We invest in skincare before we see wrinkles. We lift weights to protect our bones. We wear SPF for the long game. Why should sex and vaginal health be any different? Just because the topic is taboo doesn’t mean it’s not worth addressing early. Which is why, even though I’m not necessarily the target demographic here, I wanted to take the plunge (so to speak) and try the Joylux Vfit. If for no other reason than pelvic floor strength. Because from what I’m gathering, it’s never too early to start taking it seriously.

Why pelvic floor health matters:

Pelvic floor health is primarily talked about as something to think about after you’ve had a baby, entered menopause, or started experiencing those symptoms like incontinence (involuntary pee leakage!). But thanks to my Pilates teacher, I learned early that the pelvic floor is an essential part of your body’s core, and it plays a huge role in both our strength and our capacity for pleasure throughout our entire lives.

“The pelvic floor is an essential part of your body’s core, and it plays a huge role in both our strength and our capacity for pleasure throughout our entire lives.”

Often referred to as a “hammock of muscles,” the pelvic floor supports your bladder, bowels, and reproductive organs. When these muscles are strong and functioning nicely, they help prevent leaks, support your posture, improve core stability, and even heighten orgasmic sensation (hell yes). On the flip side, when they’re weak or underactive, this can lead to a variety of challenges, like discomfort during sex, diminished sensation, or urinary incontinence. And what’s especially confusing is that most of us aren’t even taught to look out for these symptoms or that we can actively work on this part of our body, just like we train the rest of our muscles at the gym.

But gals, I have good news for us: Pelvic floor therapy is gaining traction in wellness circles of all ages. And though many people still don’t know what the pelvic floor is, the conversation is advancing. And now proactive care can be as simple as a dedicated at-home routine. That’s where tools like the Joylux vFit come in. Whether you’re noticing a little leak when you sneeze or laugh, feeling that subtle disconnect during sex, or are simply curious about maintaining tone and lubrication as part of your self-care routine, there could be a lot to gain from a device like this.

“Caring for our pelvic floor isn’t just about troubleshooting symptoms, it’s about preserving strength.”

Caring for our pelvic floor isn’t just about troubleshooting symptoms, it’s about preserving strength. Nurturing intimacy! And taking charge of our body’s long-term health. As more women come to understand the impact of pelvic floor strength on overall well-being, maybe investing in your pelvic floor will become less taboo and more of a proactive, empowering choice.

In this light, I started to think that this isn’t just another luxury biohacking gadget. The Joylux vFit is a solution for a largely under-recognized subset of the population, and maybe its debut into the world represents the beginning of a cultural shift — toward vaginal wellness, sexual liberation, and aging empowerment. I find that incredibly exciting. So I got one.

My experience with the Joylux vFit

After bouncing back from having my shiny, new, luxury vibrator sent to my neighbor’s house, I brought it inside and dove right in. The first thing I noticed was how nice the packaging and branding are. Well done, ladies.

Inside I found a pink satin sachet, a charging cord and base, a tube of Photonic Gel, and of course, the Joylux vFit herself. I will say — she’s bigger than I thought she would be. I’m used to the small, stashable Lelo vibrator, so the heavy-duty wand was a bit of a surprise. That being said, this was also the moment it started to make sense to me. This thing really isn’t just a vibrator. It’s a medical device. It’s a red light mask for your vagina!

While other vibrators just vibrate, the Joylux vFit goes an extra mile and promotes the health of your vaginal microbiome, strengthens your pelvic floor, and helps you orgasm. This is why the Joylux is in a league (and a price range) of her own.

The device needs a full 12-hour charge before first use, so I plugged it in and downloaded the Joylux app, where the 1-year warranty is automatically registered. I was then prompted to take their menopause quiz, where they confirmed I am not yet in any phase of menopause. I was hoping they might spell out the benefits of using the product for someone who hasn’t reached menopause yet, but they didn’t.

I trekked on, tapping through the app setup, declining the paid subscription tier, selecting the 10-week beginner program, and finally reaching the home page. This is the central hub of Joylux — the one place where you can begin a session, log your symptoms, and even order more Photonic Gel or wipes in-app. At the bottom, there’s a carousel of articles titled, Staying Fashionable As We Age, The Best Places to Travel for Single Women Over 50, and Find Your Inner Peace. I feel like my mom and her friends would like this. It’s basically the Natural Cycles App for women in menopause.

The next day, when the Joylux had a full charge, I was ready to take her for a spin. I squeezed a dollop of the Photonic Gel into my hands and slathered it onto the head of the wand. This is actually worth mentioning — while you can use other lubricants with the Joylux vFit, their own Photonic Gel is water-based and infused with effective, clean ingredients that reflect and increase the red light power by 45%. Women in STEM, baby!

“Their own Photonic Gel is water-based and infused with effective, clean ingredients that reflect and increase the red light power by 45%.”

The cold gel and the neutral insertion of a large phalic device into my vagina did feel a bit clinical at first. But my excitement to give it a try overshadowed that. Once fully inserted, I tapped ‘Start Session’ on the Joylux app. Since I had previously enrolled in the beginner program the day before, they recommended I start with six minutes for my first session. I pressed play.

Immediately, the Joylux hummed to life, blasting red light into my vagina with a nice, gentle heat. The sensation was warm and surprisingly pleasant! I tested all six vibration settings before landing on ‘Constant On  —  High,’ which felt the best for me. However, I could immediately tell this probably isn’t something I would do to make myself orgasm, even though I could. I’m more of a clitorial stimulation type, and though I could use this device for that as well, I would then have to sacrifice the benefit of the red light therapy working its healing magic inside my vagina. Therefore, it’s important to know that for some, using the Joylux to masturbate and using it as a red light therapy device will need to happen in two different sessions.

As soon as my six minutes were up, the Joylux automatically shut off. I slid it out, felt the mild urge to pee, and completed my post-session check-in quiz on the toilet. Easy!

Now, after three weeks of consistent use with the Joylux vFit, I’m excited to report back that I can feel a difference. My pelvic floor is definitely more responsive, my core is stronger, and though I have laughed very hard in the last three weeks, I haven’t peed my pants a single time!

“My pelvic floor is definitely more responsive, my core is stronger, and though I have laughed very hard in the last three weeks, I haven’t peed my pants a single time!”

I’m left to believe that the red light and vibration, which felt gimmicky to me at first, are clearly effective. And with 473 reviews and a 4.6/5 rating, that doesn’t come as a shock to me. The reviews speak for themselves:

  • “This is my most valued purchase in 2025.”
  • “It works, but you have to be consistent. give it two months. I felt a difference by the third week.”
  • “After just 8 sessions, I can already see a difference with incontinence.”
  • “I’ve been using this for a month, and after a few sessions I started noticing things felt different down there – my bladder felt better, and so [does] my v$)”na!”
  • “I have already noticed results and I have only used it half a dozen times. Thank you for developing this affordable device so we can practice self care!”

One of them even called it a “WAP WAND.”

I’m excited to keep using The Joylux and see how it affects my pelvic floor strength over the coming months (no pun intended). I’m thinking I’ll work it into my routine by syncing it with my other red light devices, so whenever I do my red light facemask, I’ll follow it up with my red light vagina mask. Which brings me to my next point…

What is red light therapy, really?

I know, I know. Red light therapy is the hot wellness trend du jour. But it’s actually been around for decades and is backed by some fascinating science that proves its capacity to heal. Here’s the tea:

“Red light therapy is the hot wellness trend du jour. But it’s actually been around for decades and is backed by some fascinating science that proves its capacity to heal.”

When red light reaches your cells, it gives them a gentle, stimulating push to generate more energy. But why does it have to be red light? Why not blue or green?

It all comes down to wavelength and how deeply different types of light travel into your tissues. Red light (typically around 600 — 700 nanometers) and near-infrared light (700 — 900nm) are the goldilocks zone for this kind of therapy. They’re long enough to penetrate the soft tissue below the skin’s surface, but gentle enough not to cause any damage or heat. Blue light, by contrast, has a much shorter wavelength. It works great for surface-level concerns, like acne or bacteria on the skin, but doesn’t reach deep enough to do anything meaningful to your muscles or internal tissue.

Red light, on the other hand, actually stimulates the mitochondria in your cells, making them generate more energy, which means better and faster healing. That’s why you’ve heard people talk about red light as a means for boosting collagen, reducing inflammation, and generally helping the body do what it’s already designed to do, but faster.

So what happens when we bring that same tech downstairs? Delivering red light directly to the vaginal walls will do the same thing — increase blood flow, support tissue repair, and improve things like tone, lubrication, and sensation, all without hormones or anything invasive. That’s why this device truly is a red light mask for your vagina.

“Delivering red light directly to the vaginal walls will … increase blood flow, support tissue repair, and improve things like tone, lubrication, and sensation.”

The Joylux uses a wavelength of 662 nanometers (LED & UV-free). That’s also paired with their Photonic Gel, which reflects the light to make it even stronger. Though you don’t really *feel* the light while it’s on inside you, the idea is that over time, it’s gently encouraging your cells to restore and regenerate from the inside out.

So yes — red light is having a moment right now. For skin, for muscles, for mood. But this is the first time I’ve seen it applied to the women’s sex and intimate health space. And actually, when thinking about women in menopause and their extremely common symptoms, it makes a lot of sense why the Joylux vFit exists.

So, is Joylux worth the price?

Clocking in at $395, the Joylux vFit includes the device itself, the free tier of the app (with all of its education and data), and a 2.5oz Photonic Gel. As soon as you see and understand the Joylux for what it truly is (less of a vibrator and more of a medical device that also happens to be a vibrator), it’s easy to declare that it is definitely worth the price for some women.

“Clocking in at $395, the Joylux vFit includes the device itself, the free tier of the app (with all of its education and data), and a 2.5oz Photonic Gel.”

If your primary goal is orgasm or pleasure, there are more affordable, orgasm-focused vibrators out there (I recommend the Lelo Cruise and I’ve heard great things about the Bender!).

However, if you’re in or entering perimenopause or menopause, experiencing mild incontinence, or you’re like me, a curious early adopter interested in preventative care and pelvic floor strength, I totally recommend the Joylux vFit.

Being able to track your symptoms and treat them with a non-invasive, hormone-free, easy, effective, at-home tool like this is an obvious game-changer for women in menopause. In my research, some women even suggested trying the Joylux before moving forward with procedures like the MonaLisa Touch, a laser therapy treatment for vaginal atrophy that can cost upwards of $2,000 for a multi-treatment series. Compared to that, Joylux offers an accessible, one-time investment. You don’t even have to leave your house, and you can even have a post-treatment orgasm!

My final thoughts

Trying the Joylux vFit gave me a glimpse into where menopause care is headed and it genuinely made me hopeful.

“We might be seeing a shift toward hormone-free options, tech-forward tools, and brands that speak to women like we’re smart, curious, and worthy of pleasure at every phase of life.”

For so long, the conversations around aging and women’s intimate health have been steeped in shame, silence, and secrecy. Treatments have historically either been invasive, inaccessible, or simply not talked about. But with the Joylux on the market, we might be seeing a shift toward hormone-free options, tech-forward tools, and brands that speak to women like we’re smart, curious, and worthy of pleasure at every phase of life.

It’ll be interesting to see how devices like this impact the medical world in the years to come. Will OB-GYNs start recommending devices like this? Will insurance one day cover hormone-free alternatives like the Joylux?

I’m excited that this brand is here and is spearheading a larger movement behind menopause. And even though I’m not there yet, I feel grateful knowing that when the time comes, I won’t have to walk into it blind. There will be tools. There will be options. There will be community. And hopefully, there will be fewer women thinking they have to deal with dryness, discomfort, disconnection, or any of the shame that previous generations of women have quietly carried.

If this is the future that Joylux is (quite literally) lighting the way for, I gotta say, I’m all in.
